Classroom Champions is an amazing experience because you can learn life lessons and how to grow up the right way in this world. We learn how to function as a group, we each give ideas and we all listen. That's why we've been doing Classroom Champions for 3 years. Our athlete is always helping us and telling us how to reach our goals. So near the end of the year, our school, shows support by wearing Classroom Champion shirts. We should all have gratitude that we get to experience something so great. After all, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Whoever made Classroom champions is a genius! It's not just goal-setting though. This program teaches respect, fair play, there's no I in team, courage, how to have fun, and so much more. I hope that this program will continue and reach the hearts of many American citizens. I think it's great that these athletes actually want to help kids learn these important life lessons. This is my critique on Classroom Champions.

                          Classroom Champions

This month our friend Lex Gillette taught us about Fair Play. Lex Gillette is a paralympian athlete who runs track and jumps over hurdles. The main thing he taught us about Fair Play is to be RESPECTFUL! Everyone worked on skits with our mentors that were in Miss. Capp's class last year to show our teacher what we learned about Fair Play! In this lesson the class decided to create a song about Fair Play,it was a remix of " All About That Bass" from Room 209. During one of our lessons about Fair Play this month, on a post-it we wrote different ways to show Fair Play and hung it up around the room. During another Classroom Champions lesson this month we completed a challenge from Lex and we wrote on a index card how we show RESPECT to our family members, friends, and teacher. We also watched  Lex's videos from Google Glass and wrote letters to him telling him what we saw. Lex taught us new things about Fair Play and  we tweet him often.   Lex Gillette inspires us a lot and we love hearing his voice. We recently made a video singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LEX, his birthday was October 19.We go on You Tube every time we create a video.  SO NORTHWOOD BULLDOGS HOW DO YOU SHOW FAIR PLAY! COMMENT BELOW!

The Classroom Champions Program is a program that connects U.S. Olympic athletes with classrooms across the country. Using video and live chats, our athlete Kerry Simmonds along with Mr. Burst, Mrs. Gannon, Mrs. Jacobs and Miss Capp will motivate our students to recognize their potential, develop them to become leaders, set goals and dream big, while educating them in the practical use of communications technology.  Our classes are 4 out of  65 classrooms in the country that are participating in the program. Northwood Academy is proud to welcome back the Classroom Champions Program for the fourth year in a row.
